Four Atlanta Fathers, including ExecuSource President, named as Father of the Year Honorees
Frank Green named as honoree alongside Tyler Perry Studios President and others to American Diabetes Association’s annual award
ATLANTA (December 2015) – Alongside Tyler Perry Studios President Ozzie Areu, Delta Air Line Vice President of Sales Bob Somers and AGH founding Principal Robert Habif, ExecuSource President Frank Green has been named as one of four American Diabetes Association’s Father of the Year Honorees.
According to the ADA, the award is to “recognize men who have made family a priority while balancing demanding careers and community involvement.” The nomination and summer event heightens awareness for diabetes, spotlights the importance of fatherhood and raises funds for ADA. The Atlanta Father of the Year winner is announced at the event the Tuesday following Father’s Day, June 21.
Though the fathers don’t have to have a direct connection to diabetes to be nominated, Frank does have a personal connection to the cause – his 14-year-old son has Type 1 diabetes. To support his son and others with Type 1 diabetes, Frank is also involved with the Atlanta chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.
“Unfortunately, there’s a lot of misconstructions with diabetes. People don’t understand Type 1 diabetes is not lifestyle related,” said Frank. “Additionally, with Atlanta’s high rate of obesity and Type 2 diabetes, people need to be educated on awareness and prevention of these epidemics.”
Frank hopes the money raised from the ADA event will increase diabetes education in schools, such as with school nurses who are unaware of how to administer insulin shots, and with obesity and diabetes prevention among Atlanta’s youth.
Frank was unknowingly nominated by a client of ExecuSource, who thought of Frank as an inspiration while the client was undergoing a divorce.
“You can’t waste a second with your kids. You have to prioritize them, and that often means giving up ‘you’ time,” said Frank. “I’ve taken non-dream jobs to spend more time with kids, have cut back hours at the office and other personal sacrifices – all to funnel my time with my kids.”
