Location: Atlanta

Compensation: Starts at $86,000/year

This position will be responsible for maintaining the company database(s) and applications. The Database Administrator will act as escalation point for database-related issues and will be responsible for resolving and reviewing all database-related problems. Strengths in technical experience and the ability to interface with all levels of users, as well as an excellent teamwork mindset are crucial to success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular system tuning, performance monitoring, maintenance, and backups to ensure optimal performance
  • Ensure database connectivity from applications and devices is reliable and free of errors
  • Perform troubleshooting actions when database problems arise
  • Support and maintains Oracle database applications
  • Create reports and fulfills custom requests for users
  • Assist with user support as needed
  • Perform regular security updates
  • Design and maintain database redundancy while working to minimize database downtime and service interruptions
  • Maintain availability after hours/occasionally work on weekends to perform database maintenance as needed
  • Keep IT Manager informed of product life cycle and collaborate on annual budget for system maintenance/replacement and needed support contracts
  • Train other IT team members and assist with relevant tasks as needed

Requirements

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • 3+ years experience supporting database systems
  • Solid understanding of SQL best practices
  • Strong database maintenance capabilities, including with enterprise database systems
  • Experience with database administration in cloud environments
  • In-depth knowledge of database and query tuning techniques
  • Excellent technical diagnostic abilities including database failure investigation, reproduction, and resolution skills
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills are a must
  • Attention to detail, diligence, and punctuality in order to accurately document database status

 

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field OR an Associate degree in Computer Science or related field with relevant work experience
  • MCSA: SQL Server certification is welcome but not required
  • AWS certification is preferred
  • PostgreSQL certification is preferred
  • Linux certification is preferred
