Senior Accountant

Compensation: Depends on Experience


The Senior Accountant position is responsible for leading the finance department and ensuring the creation of accurate and timely financial records for the company. To thrive in this position, you’ll need intermediate to advanced/managerial accounting/finance experience,  excellent teamwork and leadership abilities, and a commitment to integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create financial statements and other financial reports to assess financial state of the company
  • Analyze accounting records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformance to GAAP and procedural standards
  • Conduct regular analyses of business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to assist with revenue/ expense projections and cost control
  • Prepare monthly and quarter-end account reconciliations and analysis as required
  • Prepare year-end Consolidated GAAP financial statements and related notes
  • Using industry best practices, assist with setting standards for Finance department in accordance with company expectations and standards
  • Collaborate with head of Finance department and company management to design, implement, and review appropriate fiscal strategies for the company
  • Work with other Finance team members to develop, implement, and improve internal accounting procedures, standards, and best practices
  • Create forms and manuals for accounting/bookkeeping staff
  • Assist with State & Local tax reporting as needed
  • Mentor/coach less experienced members of Finance team


Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Experience working in a corporate accounting environment or experience working at a mid-to-large size public accounting firm
  • Excellent financial management skills, including preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards
  • Strong familiarity using accounting software such as Quickbooks, Oracle NetSuite, Sage products, or Zoho books
  • Solid teamwork and leadership skills; strong employee management skills and ability to work with all levels of organization
  • Keen attention to detail paired with ability to see big-picture/long-term financial trends
  • Excellent communication skills, especially the ability to effectively explain financial information to decisionmakers
  • Deep commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and ethical conduct


Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field, OR 7 years of Accounting experience
  • Current CPA certification
